Stoke striker ‘fined £80,000 for texting boss in no-show’

Stoke striker Kenwyne Jones has reportedly been fined £80,000 for texting manager Mark Hughes to tell him he would not be making himself available for selection against Liverpool.
The fine equates to two weeks' wages as a penalty for the Trinidad and Tobago forward failing to report for the Premier League match on Sunday. Jones is understood to have infuriated Hughes by simply sending him a text to excuse himself from being considered for selection.

The forward, who has six months remaining on his current contract at the Britannia Stadium, reportedly contacted Hughes to tell him that he had no intention of turning up at the weekend.
Stoke are believed to be suspicious that Jones could have a January transfer lined up around the corner amid speculation that Everton boss Roberto Martinez wants to add him to his forward ranks.
