Simon Cowell has become a father for the first time after his girlfriend Lauren Silverman gave birth to their son on Valentine's Day.
The X Factor and media mogul, 54, flew straight from the London auditions of Britain's Got Talent to New York, where Lauren, 37, was in labour on Friday 14 February. The couple welcomed their son into the world at 5:45pm at the Lennox Hill Hopsital, weighing 6lb 7oz.
US socialiate Lauren, who has a son from her marriage to Andrew Silverman, went into labour two weeks early: her due date was tipped for 28 February.
The new dad confirmed the happy news himself on his Twitter page, also revealing his tot's name as Eric.
"Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm. Healthy and handsome. Lauren in great shape. Thanks for all of your kind messages," he wrote on his Twitter page.
He also added that the boy was named after his dad, Eric Cowell.
